Our school-based employees work from 8 AM - 4:30 PM on school days unless otherwise approved by the employee’s direct supervisor.

Each school has a school leader, assistant school leader, and grade-level chair. For Special Education, we have an assistant special education director, student support services leader, and lead paraprofessionals to provide support to new teachers and school-based support roles.

Yes! People make career changes everyday! If you are interested in becoming a teacher, you must possess a bachelor’s degree to obtain a substitute license or a tier 1 license to help jump start your career in education.

Each prospective teacher must hold a bachelor’s degree to obtain a substitute license or a teaching license. Based on your level of education and the focus of your degree(s) we will apply for the appropriate tier of licensure. It will take about 6-8 weeks to obtain approval once your licensure packet (Signed application, Official transcript, Fingerprint Card, and Licensure fee) has been submitted by PELSB.

Absolutely! We have partnered with a number of alternative teacher prep programs to help further our staff’s education beyond their bachelor's degree. If you have not finished your bachelor’s, you must complete that prior to enrolling in an alternative teacher prep program.
